THE LAST VOYAGE OF
|
This book was written by the Presbyterian Chaplain on board the British hospital ship "Britannic", the sister-ship of the "Titanic".
The "Britannic" sank in the Aegean on 21st November 1916 after striking a German mine with the loss of thirty lives, but John Fleming was the only survivor to publish an account of the ship's fateful last voyage.
The book also contains a biography of the author, a concise notes section and 41 illustrations.
Although originally published in 1917, this book has been unavailable since then. As a result of tracking down Rev. Fleming's descendants, along with access to his own personal photographic collection, this new edition provides a unique look at life on the "Britannic" and encourages the "Titanic" enthusiasts to look beyond the story of the ill-fated White Star liner. The combination of an all but forgotten text and extremely rare illustrations make this book a must for any Titanic historians. |
