Following recovery from the seabed, the bollard and the section of Titanic's hull known as the "Big Piece" were sent for conservation, which included desalination to remove the salt particles within the steel, thus reducing the rusting process. These fragments, known as detritus, were later recovered from the desalination tank and gifted to Dik Barton, former vice-president of RMS Titanic Inc., the salvors-in-possession of Titanic. The fragments are presented in a sealed display frame that comes in a specially-designed, beautiful presentation box, complete with a full colour descriptive booklet and Certificate of Authenticity, signed by expedition leader, Dik Barton, who has dived the wreck of Titanic 22 times!
